Richard D. Pompelio, Esq.
Richard Pompelio graduated summa cum laude from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1972, and he has been began practicing law in New Jersey for over 35 years. Richard is considered to be the premier victims' rights lawyer in the State of New Jersey, and his practice centers on the representation of crime victims in the justice system. Prior to his work in victims' rights, Richard represented many private and public clients developing specialties in real estate, land use and corporate law, municipal law, wills, trusts and estates and the litigation of various types of cases in the courts. Richard Pompelio's litigation experience includes numerous cases involving the wrongful death or serious injury to victims of violent crime.
In 1992, Richard established the New Jersey Crime Victims' Law Center, which is dedicated to the pro bono representation of crime victims in the criminal justice system. The Victims' Law Center was the first of its kind in the United States, and there are now eight other pro bono law clinics throughout the nation that provide similar services. Richard has also served as Chairman of the New Jersey Victims of Crime Compensation Board, and he has been involved in the drafting of much victims' rights legislation in New Jersey, including the Victim's Rights Constitutional Amendment in 1991. He has represented many crime victims before the courts throughout the State of New Jersey, and has served as special counsel to many organizations in the area of victims' rights including the Office of the Attorney General.
Richard is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and the federal and state courts of New Jersey. He is married to Ann Pompelio, also a lawyer, and he is the father of five children, Tony, Nicholas, Stevyn, Katherine and Connor.
Paul S. Foreman, ESQ.
Paul S. Foreman, Esq. is a shareholder and founding partner of Pompelio, Foreman & Gray, L.L.C. Paul has represented plaintiffs and defendants in trial and appellate courts with respect to matters involving contract disputes, complex tort matters, insurance defense and commercial litigation. He has experience including arbitrations, mediations and trials.
He has represented several Fortune 500 companies in a myriad of capacities including land use, corporate and commercial litigation law. He has taken an active role in managing all stages of litigation from pre-trial discovery through trials and appeals. Paul has also represented clients in several multimillion dollar redevelopment projects throughout New Jersey. Paul has also handled several cases involving complex issues of premise liability and landlord tenant and workers' compensation law.
Paul has extensive experience in the area of insurance defense in all forms of tort litigation for insurers and self-insured corporate clients including automobile, comprehensive general liability, professional errors and omissions, municipal liability and homeowners coverage. His services focus on reducing claim exposure while providing top level risk assessment, negotiation and contract drafting.
While practicing in the area of commercial litigation, Paul has represented corporate as well as business clients in breach of contact actions, consumer fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and professional negligence.
He has also been involved in defending public entities regarding claims under U.S.C. §1983, Title 59 and the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination. He also has experience in representing public entities in matters involving breach of fiduciary duty and contract claims. Paul has represented public entity clients with claims under the Open Public Records Act.
Paul takes particular pleasure regarding his work with the New Jersey Crime Victim's Law Center. His involvement in the NJVLC has allowed him to represent victim clients at trials ranging from murder to child abuse and rape. The experience with working with the NJVLC has provided Paul with the opportunity to speak publicly at the State House located in Trenton, New Jersey. He has also testified in front of the New Jersey Judiciary Committee with respect to amendments made to the New Jersey Crime Victim's Bill of Rights.
Paul graduated from Montclair State University in 2001 where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Thereafter, he received his Juris Doctor from New York Law School in 2005.
David E. Gray, Esq.
David E. Gray, Esq., is a shareholder and founding partner of Pompelio, Foreman & Gray, L.L.C. David represents individuals and businesses throughout the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. He is admitted to the Bar of the State of New Jersey, and to the Bar of the State of New York. David is also admitted to practice in the Federal District Court of New Jersey and the 3rd Circuit District Court.
David is a member of the Bar Associations of New Jersey, Essex County and Morris County. David graduated with Bachelor's of Science degree from the Rutgers School of Business and graduated with honors from Seton Hall Law School where he was awarded the Juvenile Justice Clinic Outstanding Achievement Award for his in-court representation of individuals, and the Pro Bono Service Award for providing legal services to underrepresented members of the community. David served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable N. Peter Conforti, J.S.C. prior to entering the private practice of law.
David has lectured on various areas of the law before community organizations and has testified before the Judiciary Committee regarding pending legislation. He has appeared on CNN, News12 New Jersey, Fox 5-Philadelphia, Channel 9 and Channel 11 news regarding various cases. He has been quoted in the Star Ledger, Daily Record, New Jersey Herald and various local papers regarding cases he has successfully litigated.
David represents businesses in connection with legal formation, operating agreements, contract disputes, union contracts, joint ventures, employment issues and buy/sale agreements with other publicly traded organizations. Corporate litigation, including complex tort and contract disputes, are a cornerstone to Pompelio, Foreman & Gray's business practice.
David represents individuals in connection with personal injury, wrongful death, serious bodily injury, criminal defense, real estate, litigation and matrimonial actions. For example, David successfully represented the parents of a murdered child wherein the parents were given the opportunity to provide a victim impact statement at a juvenile waiver hearing – a first in New Jersey.
David has also been recognized in a book written by a client with the following notation:

David has also served as a mediator for divorce and matrimonial cases, and has been appointed as an Early Settlement Panelist by the court. David is certified by the Administrative Office of the Courts in mediation training.
Nicholas F. Pompelio, Esq.
Nicholas F. Pompelio is an associate attorney at Pompelio, Foreman & Gray, L.L.C. Nicholas is admitted to the Bar of the State of New Jersey, admitted to practice in the Federal District Court of New Jersey and is pending admittance to the Bar of the State of New York.
Nicholas graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance from Saint Joseph’s University located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Nicholas earned his degree of Juris Doctor from the New England School of Law located in Boston, Massachusetts, wherein he earned awards for scholastic achievement in the areas of Contracts and UCC Sales.
Before graduating from New England School of Law, Nicholas studied International Criminal and Environmental law in the Czech Republic at Charles University in Prague. While attending law school, Nicholas served as a member of the New England Law Review, wherein he was selected for publication for his work on the relation between contract theories and modern business practices.
Prior to joining Pompelio, Foreman & Gray, Nicholas served as the judicial law clerk to the Honorable Thomas J. Critchley, Jr., J.S.C. at the Morris County Superior Court. As a law clerk, Nicholas assisted judges and conducted mediations in the areas of juvenile, family, and civil law.
Nicholas represents individuals in connection with their legal issues in municipal court, civil litigation, personal injury, probate matters, landlord tenant disputes, collections, and divorce and family matters including juvenile representation.
