The Holistic Approach to Providing Legal Services
The law firm of Pompelio, Foreman & Gray, L.L.C. (PF&G) in combination with the New Jersey Crime Victims' Law Center (NJCVLC) assesses all of the issues of the person who seeks our help. When a person seeks the help of a lawyer because they have been victimized or injured in some way, the lawyer’s scope of services is too often limited to seeking civil money damages for the client. The other issues confronting the victim, such as protecting the victim’s civil rights throughout the criminal case and the emotional trauma suffered by the individual and family members are simply not addressed.
If the person is a victim of crime, PF&G and the NJCVLC will not only serve as his or her lawyer in the criminal case to protect the victim's civil rights as a crime victim, but we will also focus on the personal and psychological issues and work directly with therapists, care givers and service providers to be sure that the client is treated as a whole person. We do this work pro bono; i.e., at no charge to the client. If there is a companion civil action for damages for personal injury or wrongful death, PF&G represents the client on a contingent fee basis and charges the usual and customary fees if there is a recovery.
We call our method of providing legal services “The Holistic Approach” because we see the client as a whole person with many interrelated, but not necessarily similar issues, and in order to adequately serve the client we must be willing to address and capably serve the client on each of these issues. The Holistic Approach is somewhat of a novel concept to the private practice law firms. Richard Pompelio has been doing this for almost two decades, and with his law partners Paul Foreman and David Gray, PF&G seeks to take this advance in client service to new professional levels both in New Jersey and nationally.
